What is T-STEM?
Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (T-STEM) Academies are open-enrollment academies that provide the following:
- Dual Credit at no cost to students
- Integrated cross-curricular STEM instruction
- Engage students to innovative curriculum including problems-solving in real-world context
- Offer rigorous instruction and accelerated courses
- Provide academic and social support services to help students succeed
- Increase college readiness
- Align to regional workforce needs, guiding students into high-demand, high-wage careers
- Partner with Texas institutions of higher education (IHEs) to reduce barriers to college access
Anderson High School has partnered with Austin Community College to provide the most advanced and comprehensive course offerings possible to engineering technology students. The Engineering Technology program offers a variety of courses in engineering, computer programming, electronics, and computer-aided drawing for students seeking employment opportunities in Engineering Technology or entry into a post-secondary Engineering program.
This program is different from Anderson Engineering in that students will take college-level coursework, taught by ACC professors and staff. Classes are taught at Anderson High School and/or online and possibly ACC campuses, depending on cohort size, and will be integrated into their high school schedule. Students will earn college and high school credit simultaneously, that is widely transferrable to colleges across the state and nationwide.
