AVID

About AVID:

AVID was built to close the opportunity gap in education by providing help and resources to students who have academic potential, and need some additional support.

AVID students are often first-generation. Regardless of their life circumstances, AVID students overcome obstacles and achieve success. They graduate and attend college at higher rates than their peers, but more importantly, they can think critically, collaborate, and set high expectations to confidently conquer the challenges that await them.

76% of AVID seniors are from a low socioeconomic status background, and 86% are underrepresented students. Nevertheless, they outperform their peers in crucial metrics nationwide.

AVID students hone their academic skills, including note-taking, organization, time management, and critical thinking. They engage in peer tutoring, collaborative study groups, and student-centered activities such as Socratic Seminars and Philosophical Chairs. With AVID’s help, students gain the soft skills and confidence to take on a college- and career-ready path.
