Course Selection & Choice Sheets – FAQs
What is a choice sheet?
A choice sheet is how students select the classes they want to take for the upcoming school year. It helps ensure students are on track for graduation while also exploring their interests and goals.
When do students complete choice sheets?
Choice sheets are completed each spring semester for the upcoming school year. The deadline for the 2026-2027 school year is February 9th. There is no benefit to submitting early, so students and families are encouraged to take the time needed to make thoughtful course selections.
How should students choose their classes?
Students should review course options carefully and think about graduation requirements, interests, and post–high school plans. We encourage families to talk through choices together and contact the student’s counselor with any questions.
Who can help if we’re unsure what to choose?
School counselors are here to help! Students are encouraged to reach out to their counselor for guidance before submitting their choice sheet.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
GARZA ONLINE HIGH SCHOOL (enroll in AISD online high school courses like Health, Art, Math, Science, etc.)
- Students may take a Garza course at any point from 8th–12th grade.
- Students are able to enroll themselves in Garza courses.
- If a student plans to complete a graduation-required course through Garza, the course does not need to appear on their schedule until senior year, provided it is completed before then.
- If the course is not completed prior to senior year, it must be added to the student’s schedule until completion.
- Example:
Economics — If a senior reports they are taking Economics through Garza prior to the spring semester but has not completed the course by the fall, Economics must remain on their schedule until it is finished.
