ACC Dual Credit
Get a jump start on college credit through our partnership with Austin Community College! Qualified high school students are able to earn Dual Credit for both high school and college transcripts. Dual Credit courses are taught by college professors using the same lessons and expectations for all college students. Students receive a grade from their ACC professors on their college transcript AND that same grade will go on their high school transcript for the corresponding course - 2 credits for 1 course!

FAQs:
- Do all ACC courses count as Dual Credit? NO, only specific ACC courses will meet requirements for Anderson’s graduation requirements. You can find the list HERE. ACC offers all their CORE Curriculum courses to Dual Credit students, however, they do not all count towards graduation requirements. Students are welcome to take these courses knowing they will not count towards their diploma. See the full list of ACC Core Curriculum HERE.
- When are classes offered? ACC classes are offered at Anderson in the fall and spring. If you choose summer classes, you can pick the class, time, and location. Classes at Anderson are limited and only available during offered times.
- ACC’s deadline for registration is not the same as Anderson’s deadline, why is this? Dual Credit enrollment is a longer and more complicated process - first time enrollment procedures, needing parent permissions signed, and sending off college readiness scores takes longer than regular enrollment. We also must have time to coordinate the complicated schedules of high school students. ACC also has minimums and maximums on class sizes, so we need time to work out all possible issues.
- How much do Dual Credit ACC classes cost? The first 12 courses are tuition free, however some courses have fees for materials required by professors.
- Can I take ACC courses online? Dual Credit students may take some ACC courses online during the school year, but it requires permission from Ms. Sanchez and your counselor. Not all online courses work for high school students. Do NOT register for online courses during the school year without permission from both Ms. Sanchez and your counselor - with the exception of ECON 2301-053 (only offered online but must enroll in this specific section). Summer online classes are good options but remember you must be self-disciplined.
- Will the credit I earn in Dual Credit courses transfer to universities? YES, click HERE to see what credit you earned at ACC will transfer to other universities.
- What is FERPA? The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student educational records. Students own their college academic records; therefore, academic records may not be released to a parent or guardian without a student’s written consent.
- Will my accommodations at Anderson follow me automatically to ACC? No, students receiving accommodations at Anderson will need to apply for those accommodations at ACC. Apply HERE
- Will my ACC Dual Credit courses go on my permanent college transcript? YES, be mindful your ACC grades will go on your official college transcript. You will have the opportunity to drop the course if it is not a good fit.
