Austin Public Library Teen Volunteer Program

APD Youth Program  

The APD Youth Program was developed to create a path for the recruitment of local youth into the Austin Police Department (APD). In the coming weeks and months, APD will hire 60+ local youth to assist with the development of a collaborative youth-led recruiting model.  

Austin Transit Partnership Internship - Due April 19th

For the past five years, ATP has hosted a successful hands-on engineering internship program. Our participants have enjoyed the opportunity to work on important civil engineering projects and have thoroughly impressed us all. CISCO High School Externship - NEW!!  Due April 13th

Cisco's High School Externship Program is a two-week, in-person summer experience designed for current juniors and seniors who are interested in technology, engineering, or business. During the program, students spend time on-site at Cisco working alongside professionals, meeting with company leaders, participating in professional development workshops, and collaborating on team-based capstone projects. Students walk away with real-world professional experience, mentorship connections, and exposure to career paths in areas like engineering, business, finance, healthcare tech, and manufacturing — things most students don't get access to until well into college.

Dates: July 6–16, 2026 (Monday through Thursday)

Locations: New York, NY | Austin, TX | Research Triangle Park, NC

Eligibility: Current Juniors or Seniors (Class of 2026 or 2027) with a minimum 3.5 GPA

Code Ninjas Northwest Austin - Volunteer/Internship

Hanger Foundation Internship due April 20

The Hanger Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people with limb loss and physical challenges. For high schoolers, they offer unique opportunities like summer internships and scholarships to help students explore careers in healthcare while giving back to their community.  Here is a local opportunity for Anderson students:

  • Total spots available: 10 available to students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades
  • Cost: $1,000 per student

NCLS.ORG - Pre-College Summer Programs

The National Student Leadership Conference provides an immersive pre-college experience that prepares students for life beyond middle and high school, allowing them to study in university classrooms, learn to navigate a campus, and experience living with roommates. Students are able to explore a career concentration they are interested in before going into college and declaring a major. Each NSLC program also contains a leadership curriculum designed to teach skills that can apply to all areas of life.

SEAT - Students Engaged on Advancing Texas - Advocacy Day April 18th

SEAT, Students Engaged in Advancing Texas, is a movement of young people developing transferable skills and demonstrating youth visibility in policymaking by seeking a seat at the table. 

Advocacy Day will be held on April 18th in DFW and we will have a bus from Austin, going in the morning and returning in the evening on the same day. Participation and bus costs are entirely free but students must RSVP here.
