College Exploration Tools

College Match

What it does:
Suggests colleges based on your academic information and how past Anderson students have done.

What it uses:

  • GPA

  • Test scores (if available)

  • Historical application data from Anderson

Why it matters:
Helps you understand the difference between likely, match, and reach colleges.

College SuperMatch™

What it does:
Allows you to search and filter colleges based on what you want in a school. The more information you add, the better the results will be.

What it uses:

  • Location and distance from home

  • School size

  • Majors and programs

  • Campus setting and other preferences

Why it matters:
Helps you narrow options, compare schools, and discover colleges you may not already know about.

Scattergrams (Use With Caution)

What it does:
Shows how past Anderson students did when applying to a specific college.

Each dot represents one student:

  • Green = accepted

  • Yellow = waitlisted

  • Red = denied

Important warning:
Scattergram data is only as accurate as what students report. Not all students update Naviance with their college decisions, so the information is incomplete.

Use scattergrams to look for general trends, not guaranteed outcomes.

Saving Colleges

“Colleges I’m Thinking About”

  • Click the ⭐ (favorite) icon to save a college

  • Saving a college does not mean you are applying

  • This list helps you organize and compare options

College Visits (Juniors)

Junior students can use Naviance to sign up for in-person college visits hosted at Anderson High School.

  • Visits are listed in Naviance

  • Colleges send representatives to campus

  • Sign-ups are required and space may be limited

Other valuable research tools are BigFuture and your College Board Account. College Board already has your test scores, so put it to work! They also have good national scholarships through Big Future.

Student can use My Texas Future to develop career and college lists. Students should create an account with a personal email, as AISD will block emails from My Texas Future.

Families can set up a Common App Practice Account, to begin college discussions early!

Junior students can create their own Common App Account using a personal email (we highly recommend using an email created specifically for the college application process).  Students can enter in personal profile information, and select colleges, but understand that Common App (and Naviance) will roll over on August 1st.  Students cannot submit applications until after August 1st of their senior year.
